A “fearless piece of online journalism” it may be, but even online journalists are obliged to adhere to the facts. For instance Hewson mischaracterized the police investigation into serious allegations of rape as “the persecution of old men” involving “The manipulation of the rule of law.”

Her reasoning? Essentially “Touching a 17-year-old’s breast, kissing a 13-year-old, or putting one’s hand up a 16-year-old’s skirt, are not remotely comparable to the horrors of the Ealing Vicarage assaults and gang rape, or the Fordingbridge gang rape and murders, both dating from 1986.” No they’re not. But to take one example, Stuart Hall has pleaded guilty to Hall pleaded guilty to 14 charges of indecent assault involving 13 girls aged between 9 and 17, two of which involved penetration. Hewson’s tawdry attempts to deny the gravity of the assaults on minors does not do her any credit.
