The Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League is getting reports from concerned property and land owners between Four Lanes, Redruth and Helston in Cornwall.

Many residents of the area have received official notices from the Duchy of Cornwall and the Land Registry informing of applications by the Duchy to register mines and minerals.

The reason for this correspondence from both the Duchy and Land Registry is given as a change in the law.

The applicant’s details are fully given as ‘His Royal Highness Charles Philip Arthur George Duke of Cornwall and Rothesay Earl of Chester and Carrick Baron Renfrew Lord of the Isles and Great Steward of Scotland in right of his Duchy of Cornwall’.

The application made gives notice to register mines and minerals – whole, powers of working and was lodged by the Duchy of Cornwall of The Old Rectory, Newton St. Loe, Bath BA2 9BU.

All those in receipt of the notice bearing the registration number CL 302203 which is dated 6 March 2014 gives each recipient until 12 noon on the 27 March 2014 to either object or consent to the application and if choosing to object to set out legal details for so doing.

The notice from the Duchy of Cornwall ends by adding that the ‘application is solely to protect those rights, and does not indicate that the Duchy has any present intention to work the minerals’.

Local landowners, some of whom grow crops and keep cattle and other livestock on the land have expressed their concern at this notice describing themselves as feeling both bullied and confused.

Nicholas Williams of Four Lanes told CCN he’d now had two letters, the first of which gave him just ten days to take on the full might of the Duchy in their mining claim.

He explained: “It was a very bullying letter, and I was very intimidated by it. I don’t have the time or the money to fight the claim.”

Some are worried that the implication of a ‘whole powers of working’ implies a right of way to gain access to any prospective workings in order to mine minerals.

They say the notice does not rule out any future intention to work the minerals.

There is also a concern that property values may be adversely affected.

The Cornwall Branch of the Celtic League has forwarded a copy of one of the six page notices to a lawyer with an in-depth knowledge of the secretive workings of the Duchy of Cornwall with a request for any advice which may be freely available.

We strongly recommend that anyone in receipt of such a notice consults with their own solicitor or legal representative as soon as possible before signing the papers.

This is particularly important as events and statutes dating from 1337, 1844 and 1846 are referenced in the notice.

What more could this despicable man want? He is draining Cornwall dry! It really is time for people to stop cheering and waving flags when he and that awful woman appear here and to turn their backs on this leech!

What a hypocrite this ‘Prince’ is. A ‘Prince’ amongst thieves more like! I am sick of him and his bloodsucking family. How dare he disrupt the lives of ordinary Cornish folk? Who the devil do these ‘Royals’ think they are?

Do you honestly believe anyform of letter writing will do any good? I think not instead try to say no collectively this isnt about mining its about potential companies recieving licences to mine and so the duchy recieves tax on each tonne of mineral extracted quire clever really in view of what has been said of south croftys future.
The gravy train will keep flowing to the royal table and has done more so since 1547 if you really want out vote as Scotland is simple!!!

It is about time that Britain adopts a modern constitution and scraps this outdated feudal Monarchy. They are nothing short of satanic parasites. I can’t see for the life of me why people go into a flag waving frenzy when they visit town. The truth is that these evil bastards are ripping the pants of the people. Unfortunately, the population in this country have been dumbed down and this allows this unacceptable situation to continue. Unfortunately the British people have got what they deserve.

Just because you own land or live on land does not mean you have the rights to what is under it. That is common sense, this is the same in a republic. Part of Cornwall belong to the duchy. And this is not just happening in Cornwall it happened all over the country. Many people on varies estates have been told the old rights of land holders. If the royals have this, other nobles do, other gentry do, other estate owners do, the state owns some etc etc get over it,

People are not smarter in republics. Seeming in republics they do not care about land owners. Seeming France etc all still have there nobles with money and estates.

People need to learn what federal , as this is not the feudal system.

Also the duchy does not own all of Cornwall , research what you are moaning about before opening your mouths.

Most of the money the duchy has goes not come from Cornwall nor would it go into yours pockets

    Grow up!

I think it is you need to read up a little more on the subject Adam. Duke Charles retains absolute rights to access mineral beneath Cornwall and also has powers concerning our shoreline. Die in Cornwall without a will and the estate become his. He has interfered without democratic control in many cases which may affect his income.

We will open our mouths and are not all Royal lackeys like some.

And no Adam, we will not get over it. We don’t need to lick Royal boots but please do so if that’s what you like to do.

I would also venture that Adam is a Royalist Anglo imperialist. Fortunately we are wising up to his type. We certainly don’t need to grow up Adam. You do! Back to licking your Royal boots pard!
