A talented young couple from Truro are making a splash with a series of online films themed on the Duchy and local life.
Rif Evans, who scores the short movies as ‘Riffy Raffy Evans’ or Evco, and film-maker Joanne Clement have four highly accomplished works to their name and are looking to break out at this years
Escape from Joanne Clement on Vimeo. Rif, 27, is from Truro and Joanne, who’s 23, also lives in the capital although she hails originally from South Africa. Rif explained “I’m influenced mainly by the ocean, everyday life and personal experiences with people and surfing. “The rules of composition don’t always have to apply in music- it can be a feeling that comes from within- and my music reflects these emotions.”

She wrote her film ‘Escape’ as both a homage to Cornish surf culture and a commentary on its commercialisation. The movie’s been entered into Novembers film-fest, and in the coming months tracks from Rif’s score will be released as an EP called Gentle Waters,
